Robots...

I am looking at these kinds of robots as a reference for the movement of the 'surgeon' which extracts the data from the robots in the recyke plant. I don't think it should look too insect-like as this would be very 'matrix'. There is less thought behind it's actions, more like a worker doing a mindless repetative task in a factory.

I think i can rig the joints the normal way, just by keeping the different components seperate, but i'm not sure about the cables. Maybe blendshapes would do the trick?
